Hey guys! Just curious to see which silent hills are the most popular. I figured we'd do a weekly poll starting every sunday so we could get some random chatting in as well as RPing. But yeah! Just vote and post up the silent hills in the order that you like them and maybe the reasons why! I'll start us off...
Silent Hill 2 - I LOVE the plot Silent Hill 1 - Lisa of course! Silent Hill Origins - Haven't finished but I like the construction Silent Hill 3 - My first silent Hill, who doesn't like Heather? Silent Hill 4 - The kiddies creeped me out! Silent Hill Movie - Did not like at all =P
And I have not played Homecoming, though I read all the little spoilers on it trying to pull the canon list together, haha.

This was such a hard poll for me because I adore all of the Silent Hill games so much. Why must you torment me, Lisa? xD
In order of preference: Silent Hill 4 - It was the very first horror game I ever played and an amazing one at that. I love the story line and sense of hopelessness you get every time you wake up to see the door locked. It's also great at inducing fear and feelings of dread and loss through the ghosts and Walter himself. Oh, and who could forget the return of the pink bunny?
Silent Hill 1 - Definitely one of the spookiest Silent Hills, despite the graphics. Chasing around a little girl while being attacked by little Mumblers in the school is always frightening. Also, this is where Silent Hill started so there's nothing more pure to the spirit of the franchise.
Silent Hill: Origins - It was so hard to choose between this game and Silent Hill 2. I like how it goes back to the heart of the games, where everything started, and revisits old characters. I was especially impressed with the bit at the beginning where the player, as Travis, must find and carry the charred body of Alessa to 'safety.' A totally awesome game, even if I haven't quite completed it yet.
Silent Hill 2 - What's not to like? Great story, with loads of twists and unexpected events, and complex ways to get each ending. Wicked monster designs too.
Silent Hill 3 - I really liked the character design for some reason. The appearances of everyone was just so great! The creepy bunnies everywhere was definitely likable, even if it was terrifying.
Silent Hill Homecoming - Not a bad story with its own share of twists. The combat system took a bit to get used to but wasn't all bad. I wasn't the fondest of facing the actual followers of the cult in the end but it could be looked at as a nice change as well.
Silent Hill Movie - Meh. It was okay but it could have been much better if it stuck to the games more.

Silent Hill 2- The best everything about it was near perfection.
Silent Hill 1- The original, loved it soo much haha it is what got me into survival horror.
Silent Hill 3- Game looked amazing and it tied up things from the first one.
Silent Hill 4- Cool ideas would have been better if they kept it separate from the Silent Hill series.
Silent Hill Homecoming- Pretty good not really anything to special about it.
Silent Hill Origins- Just bad

Cain, you didn't like origins? I never finished it so I dunno. I heart Lisa was meaaaaan and I agree about SH2. That one was so beautifully done, I can't even pick words to describe it.
Walter, it's my job. bwahahaha. No, but, I really like learning about people and especially their silent hill preferences so i'm going to torture you once a week for every week of the rest of your life on this board. I mean hi. ;D

Well all right then; I accept your torture methods... for now. >:] It is rather interesting to hear the opinions of other Silent Hill fans though, I love reading them. I think this once-a-week poll idea is really great. Also, hi.

Yea I really did not like Origins it was weak in story. And the combat system was so bad. I mean three hits and then my sword breaks?! Whats up with that?

I forgot about that! I mean a tv can only take so many hits to pyramid head's head but still, it'd be nice to have it for at least half the game. XD And I will take it as a personal duty Walter *salutes* =D

And why is the main character even sticking around Silent Hill? There is no lost loved one there. Nothing he should have just turned around and got the hell out of there lol

Nothing he should have just turned around and got the hell out of there lol Well I think it was because of Alessa and his dark past or something like that. I dunno. The battle system was off. I'll always be a SH2 girl. *hugs james* I love the Maria Mary concept and the guilt concept. it's just so well done.

SH2 obviously...
I liked 4 probably because it introduced me to the Series. I probably wouldn't have played it if it had not been a Silent Hill game so I'm glad it was.
I don't typically play a lot of straight Horror or Survival Horror games. I like fantasy more than anything.
Silent Hill had enough of a nice atmosphere that it didn't throw me off trying to play it. (I can not play FPS because it throws me off. Same with fighting games. I suck at them and I don't like them because most of them are flat and boring.)
Some other games I'm gonna recommend if you don't like fighting but you like the atmosphere or puzzle part of Silent Hill are Hotel Dusk for DS, a puzzle mystery game. (The main character looks like James to me. He's a snarky detective. Real Jaded. I love him.)
Then there is Rule of Rose. Jennifer is actually much like James as well. I won't give too much away but if you liked the shocks, surprises and metaphors in SH2 you'd definately want to check out RoR.
It's got the wonderful atmosphere that we love SH for. However, if you like fighting/ great "gameplay" then you may not like it so much. The story and graphics are wonderful but the gameplay needs serious revamping. Also you spend a lot of time looking for items so if you dont' like that you may not like it either. Personally I hate fighting and waisitng health items so I loved the fact that the only things you had to fight in this game were the bosses and mini bosses.
Well that's my four cents. See you soon!

Hmmm...
Silent Hill 2 - I love this game so much. It was what made me want to get into Silent Hill Rps and such. I don't know. It's not the first one I played, but it's the first one I finished. So many trauma and emotion!
Silent Hill Origins - I gotta say I don't like much about the game combat wise. Breaking weapons turned me off before I even got the game in my hands. But I LOVE Travis. He's such a nice guy. His past makes me wonder how he became such a decent guy. Plus he was nice to Alessa and I love Alessa too...
Silent Hill 1 - The original baby! I feel so bad for Alessa when I think of the game...
Silent Hill 4 - It's the first game I played of the series. It was at the story when I decided I wanted to get into Silent Hill (someone told me I would love it, and I did!). Oh, this game was fun and creeped me at time. The hospital rooms especially. -_-
Silent Hill Movie - I like the movie. Does it come close to the game? No. I can't even consider it the same thing. The movie is just a fun horror movie I like to watch cause it's better than things like Jason and Friday the 13th. But it's no Silent Hill.
Silent Hill 3 - I love Alessa but I'm not too fond of Heather. Oh, but sexy beam and the UFO ending make me chuckle... Also...I hate Robbie.
Silent Hill Homecoming - I feel ashamed to be an American. And I knew it would happen the moment I heart it was going to be done by a third party. Nice graphics and such, but I didn't feel any fear or suspense walking around there. I was just angry for some reason. Probably cause it wasn't all that deep.
Anyone read the comics? I can never find them. I'm curious if they're decent or not.

Honestly I think it's the only one that everyone likes. I, personally, have a problem with the newer ones but thats another story. ;D

Id say that for me it'd be 2, 3, 1, Origins, the movie, Homecoming and The Room. As bad as the movie was, Homecoming was worse and 4 about tied with it. I liked Origins just because it reminded me so much of 1. But i agree with everyone else, 2 is the best.

I played it and own it.
Selene love my ps3.
But yeah... Homecoming is very much an American made game. Nothing deep about it. The best ending is the Hospital Ending only for the sake of adding depth to the game... But with my trusty combat knife, everything's pretty much gutted.
