The newest title in the Silent Hill series, Shattered Memories, is creeping closer and closer. Releasing on the Wii console, PS2, and PSP. Konami has released the first official trailer and you can see it at my youtube: www.youtube.com/user/GiaDahmer
Now, let's discuss our feeling and impressions of the re-imaging of our beloved town. Update: There are now videos of the demo walkthrough on YouTube. I say it has potential but im not expecting alot. And they took the character changing a bit far by making Dahlia a hooker.... (if Heather was a skank....)

There's an even newer trailer than 'Lost In The Snow' out now! <3 [Where's Cheryl] And, of course, gameplay: [Part 01] [Part 02] [Part 03] [EDIT: Ah, I didn't see your update there, Phil. xD; If that is a version of Dahlia then she certainly does sort of resemble Heather.]
I am so psyched about this game. The fact that the combat has been totally removed has me incredibly excited. I know this is different and perhaps even considered odd for a Silent Hill game but, hey, I think the developers could be on to something here.
I don't even know where to start with this topic. There's so much that we could talk about!

Yeah, it looks like a Heather but it looks like Heather as she did (her age) in SH3. It seems odd to change Dahlia that much, though. They seem to have changed alot of small things. Like Cafe' 5 to 2 being Diner 52 now and Harry living on Levin Street. Stuff like that will bother me but i will still buy it and play the crap out of it. lol It cant be worse than Homecoming no matter what they do to it. Especially with that running aspect. That seems like a really cool idea, besides not getting to explore.

If you pause the video right where Dahlia appears you can get a better look at her. She looks a little like a strung-out Heather with too much makeup and untidy hair. It's like what Heather might look like if she recently hit rock bottom. xD [Not dissing Heather or anything, she's a great character.] However we already know that there are three different versions of Cybil so this Dahlia could simply be one of many versions the player will receive. For all we know the woman in the red dress that appears in 'Where's Cheryl' could also be Dahlia. Speaking of which, did you notice that the red dress on that dark-haired woman looks like the one on a mannequin in one of the screen shots?
I'm not so sure if Harry actually lives on Levin Street; in the new trailer this older couple are living in 'his house' and lock him outside. I'm thinking that maybe he lived there once in his life but moved out or went missing. Then maybe, due to the car crash, he lost his memory. No memory means a very confusing, psychological, fascinating storyline. ^.-
I love the fact the monsters won't give the player a break unless he or she runs. I mean, what's more stressful than knocking over a bookshelf, jumping over a gap, crawling under a fence, and then looking back to see your foes right on your heels? I'm sure there will be ways to get around them and search though and, even so, the chase scenes are probably at designated parts of the game so no exploring will be needed. However it would be nice if not every attack was scripted.
I don't mind the changes as it is just a 're-imagining.' No matter how much the developers screw up it won't really be considered canon. But I don't think they'll screw up. Apart from the glowing flares [Resident Evil style glow] and the yellow arrows pointing to puzzles it all looks good. I just hope these 'hints' are just part of the opening as a tutorial or can be switched off. Even if they're there for the whole game I'm sure it'll be an amazing experience though.

Yeah, I'm sure youre right. And they said that monster in the demo was the "base" creature and that things you do in the story will add to them. I just hope it isnt that every monster is the same, like they all change to look a certain way all at once. I want some variety. GOTTA HAVE DOGS!

I hope there will be a variety of different creatures at once too. With all the same type of foe one can easily figure them out and outsmart them whereas with, lets say, a small fast monster and a big slow monster, both with brains, things would be a little more complicated, which is what many players thrive on.
Oh yeah, there has to be dogs! I adore the little savage beasts!
Maybe if you like spending a long time in each room to look around at everything the monsters will develop longer legs for increased speed. Faster enemies means less time to look around. The horror! O:
Wouldn't it be fantastic if there were some puzzles with a time limit? Like, say a player flees from some monsters and reaches a room. On the other side of the door he or she must close and bar it shut but, upon looking around, the player finds a locked door with some mechanism that needs solving before it will open. So the player sets to work but, behind Harry, all one can hear is the scratching and banging of the horrible beasts trying to get in.
Oh the stress levels! xD

That would be fantastic. I saw in the trailer that you can try to hide from them in closets. That was pretty intense too.

:raises an eyebrow: But I thought there wasn't a combat system..?
I thought someone said there wasn't fighting?

There isn't. You must have misinterpreted one of our posts.
There are puzzles. There are flares. There are obstacles [for both the player and the monsters]. There are hiding places. But no real combat. It's all, "Gah! One jumped on me! Getitoffgetitoff! *flails and runs*"
It's awesome that you can hide! I'm thinking that the monsters only found him because whoever was playing had left Harry's flashlight on. Don't forget to turn it off! xD
What does everyone think of the new 'Icy' Otherworld? I mean, it's certainly different but will every player have positive reactions to it? I like the idea but I am merely one of millions of fans.

Unfortunately, I only have dial up so I cannot see this fabulous otherworld...
I am not sure I like the hiding idea...
If it turns out to be like Haunting Ground I'll be very disappointed... the hiding places weren't that good and the monsters always found me... and you spend a LOT of time hiding there. And if you use the same place twice, they'll find you there every time.

Nah he just jumped in a closet instead of running. Not sure why you would want to do that unless you cant find your way out of a room or something. But yeah, the icy world is....different. Not sure how i feel about it as it is an EXTREME departure from the normal otherworld. I wont be too quick to judge though until i see if for myself.
