Sam ran as fast as she could following the bloody footsteps that Lisa left behind. Something didn’t feel right, and Samantha started to think of the pool of blood that her and Lisa had walked across just a few minutes ago. Sam then started to think the worst about Lisa and all the possibilities. No Sam, don’t think like that I’m sure she’s alright. The dark haired woman thought to herself as she kept her gun held high illuminating the path for her and the woman she had met.
I shouldn’t have left her by herself. Sam thought to herself feeling guilty that Lisa was gone and all by herself. Sam could now hear faint sounds of someone crying. Who is that? Sam thought to herself as she continued to run and follow the bloody footprints. Sam then came to a door and tried to open it but it was locked. Just as Samantha was getting ready to keep moving, she could hear Lisa on the other side.
“Lisa!!” Sam screamed through the door, but there was no answer. As she listened closer, she could hear footsteps coming from the inside. Sam knowing that Lisa was inside the room, decided that she would kick the door down. “LISA STAY AWAY FROM THE DOOR!” Samantha screamed through the door. Sam then quickly brought up her right leg, and kicked the door as hard as she could, causing the door to violently swing open.
Sam then ran into the room and shone her light in one of the corners and saw Lisa unharmed. Sam looked closer and Lisa was staring at something else in the room. Sam turned around and saw the bloody, and bandaged nurse walking towards them holding her butcher knife high. “DROP YOUR WEAPON NOW!!” Sam said in her commanding tone, but the nurse didn’t listen. “DROP IT NOW OR I WILL SHOOT!” Sam shouted. Just then, the nurse took a swipe at her.
Samantha quickly dodged it but she fell on her back and her gun went sliding across the room. The nurse then hopped on top of her and tried slicing her. Sam was holding the nurse back with all her might. Sammy then quickly reached and grabbed her combat knife and rammed it through the nurse’s stomach, which caused black blood to spray all over Samantha’s outfit. The nurse then let out a loud ear piercing scream and fell on top of Samantha.
Sam shoved the cold limp body off of her, hopped up and grabbed her gun. Sam walked back over to the nurse, and just as she was about grab the nurse’s weapon, her hand grabbed her ankle. Sam let out a small scream and brought up her foot and slammed it down on the nurse’s spinal cord and broke it finally killing it. Sam picked up the butcher knife, and then walked over to Lisa. “Lisa are you ok? And what the hell was that thing” Sam asked in a worried tone.

(...seeing as I got left behind...)
Cecilia stood in the dark hallway alone again, unable to see infront of her. This darkness was all consuming... she had no light at all... there were not even outlines...
Her heart thundered in her ears and hesitantly she stuck her hand out to find any sort of obstical that may be in her way.
That other girl had runaway so quickly... she wondered if she were ok.
Suddenly she heard a scream. She jumped, looking around although she could see nothing.
"...H...hello?" She whispered hoarsely. "...Is anyone there...? ...what is going on in here...?"
Cecilia held her hand out in front of her as she proceeded forward and suddenly...
She froze, her mouth going dry.
There, under her hand, was the same head of hair from before. She didn't pull back this time. It was sheer shock that made her stand there, her hand on the child's head...
"...W...who's there?" She asked quietly. No one answered. The head didn't move... the child didn't make any noise.
Cecilia's hand began trailing down the child's forhead, trying to reassure herself of something. A smooth forhead...two eyes... ...a nose... a mouth...
As her hand slid down the child's face, they turned it up as if they were looking at her in the darkness.
"...J..Jeremy...?" Cecilia whispered hopefully, for a moment, all sense and reality lost.
She could feel a smile slide across the child's face... then suddenly pain as the child bit her... hard...
"AAH!" she pulled her hand back and she heard a dark laugh and footsteps running down the hallway.
"...Jeremy!" Cecilia couldn't help but call out into the darkness after the child. Her heart ached instantly. She brought the bitten hand to her lips to soothe it and tasted the coppery salt of her own blood.
That child had meant to harm her... And they'd done a fair job of it too... The wound on her hand was bleeding pretty freely. It was as if that child had tried to take off one of her fingers.
Cecilia looked around, holding her hand. "Please... someone help me... I'm bleeding..." She called into the darkness of the hospital, wondering if anyone were around.
Feeling the wound, she was now certain that that child was no ordinarly child... whatever had bitten her had fairly big teeth...

One minute she was looking into the eyeless face that haunted her nightmares and the next there was darkness. Lisa's fingers were curled tight around the hospital door handles and she fought off the urge to scream. It would know where she was.
The crying had stopped now only to be replaced by the scuffle of feet in an inhuman pattern. Was the faint sound of footsteps the sound of survivors? Her heart hammered and suddenly there was a blinding light on her, coming from the far end of the hallway. The nurse stood above her, weapon raised. Lisa couldn't find the voice to scream.
Instead, she closed her eyes.
"I can't, not another day! It's just, she's, why are you keep that child alive?"
"She is important to us. That's all you need to know."
"Please... have mercy..."
Lisa felt the fear of the aloneness hit her, overwhelming her so that she couldn't breathe. She didn't want to be alone with that girl! That poor, poor girl! Alessa. How could he make her do this? What was keeping that child alive? For a second these thoughts ran bright lights in her mind, taking her away from what was happening. It was as though she weren't even there, reliving a ghost of who she thought she was. Thought... she was? Huh?
"Lisa are you ok? and what the hell is going on?" the words broke the glaze that Lisa had sunken into through fear.
Like a deer in the headlights, she slowly regained her composure, squinting against Samantha's light. Lisa, shaken now, gazed at the floor where the thing stood. Her flashlight was maybe a few inches away but she didn't dare pick it up. Heart beat normalizing now, she removed her hands from the locked door and covered her chest insecurely.
"I don't, I don't know," she finally managed, "something strange is going on."

After waiting a couple seconds, Sam had started to think that something had happened to Lisa while she was locked in the room with that thing. Just as Sam was about to start to shake Lisa, she heard the nurse finally say something. Sam let out a sigh of relief when Lisa said that she didn’t know and that something strange was going on here. If something had happened to Lisa, Sam would’ve never would have forgiven herself.
“Yeah that’s for sure.” Sam said in an unemotional tone. “We need to get the hell out of this crazy messed up hospital.” Sam said in her commanding tone. Sam then walked over to her flashlight that she had given to Lisa, picked it up and handed it over to her. Sam then held out the butcher knife that she had taken from the nurse she had killed earlier and handed it out towards Lisa. “Here take this. You never know when more of those things are just gonna show up, and you need to protect yourself.” Sam said in a concerned tone.
Just as Samantha handed Lisa the knife, she heard a loud scream come from outside the room. Sam then remembered the woman she had met in the lobby, and left when she went to find Lisa. “Oh my god, how could I have been so stupid!” Sam said in an angry tone. “Lisa we need to go help her.” Samantha said in a commanding tone as she walked beside Lisa making sure she wouldn’t have to step by the dead nurse on the floor.
As soon as they were out of the room, Sam started walking back to the room where she had abandoned the woman she had helped earlier. As Samantha walked, she made sure that Lisa was close by. How could I have been so stupid? You never leave a person behind…NEVER. Sam thought to herself, remembering how she had to leave her best friend back in a cave when a cave in separated them. Ever since then, Sam made a vow that she would never leave anybody behind again. A vow that has kept up until tonight.
The two were now back in the room and Sam could see the woman she had left earlier holding her now bleeding hand. Sam quickly made her way over to the woman and examined her hand. “I’m so sorry. This is all my fault.” Sam said in a sad tone as she looked at the bleeding hand, almost letting out a tear knowing that she could have stopped this. “Lisa, can you help her?” Sam said looking back at the nurse in red with tears starting to form.

Cecilia looked up with dazed, foggy eyes at Sam and Lisa.
"...J...Jeremy..." She whispered nearly hysterically. "I thought I..."
She sighed to herself and shook her head, chuckling humorlessly. "No... never mind... it... it's impossible..." She looked at Sam and smiled warmly.
"Don't worry... I'm going to be alright... it just needs cleaned and bandaged up a bit it is all..."
She looked up at Lisa, her wound then forgotten.
"...Please... I need to know where the records room is... I wouldn't pry if it weren't important... but it is..."
She took a steadying breath and her eyes teared up. "I... am so confused..." She thought about the face and head she'd felt, knowing that trying to explain it would be pointless.
It was probably a patient... but still...
The laughter... it was as if that child had known her past...
She looked around. "I... guess I should get this bandaged up first..." Looking at the wound in the light, it looked more like it'd been caught in a mouse trap than if someone had bitten it...
"...a small child bit me... but this looks more gruesome than that..."

Lisatook the knife hesitantly from Sam. Despite the horror of the way the nurse creature had almost gotten both of them, the knife was as clean as though it had never been used or grasped in those blood-stained hands. Lisa shivered at the feel of the cold metal in her hands. She was a life saver, not a life taker and a weapon like this would be useless to her either way. Giving into Samantha's will, she placed the knife on her person where it would remain just in case she had to use it. Lisa shivered at the idea of using such a dangerous weapon against anything.
The duo made their way back to the new company, the one that Lisa had yet to meet. She'd wandered down the hospital's hallways like alice lost in wonderland. Sadly that had been one of the biggest mistakes of her life. Someone had been crying and Lisa highly doubted that it was that bloody nurse. Her heart fluttered in her chest and they rounded the corner to view a woman older than Lisa who was clutching at her hand as though she were hurt. Lisa's instincts kicked in and she was there immediately, reaching out to grab the woman's hands.
"Here let me help," she offered and didn't wait for an answer because she knew that a wound like this had a great potential to become infected.
Slender fingers held the woman's hand and she reached into her emergency medical pack for gauze and rubbing alcohol. Lisa worked fast, stopping the bleeding and making sure the wound was cleansed of any bacteria. She rolled the gauze around the center of the wound and grabbed a small pin to keep it in place. When she was done, Lisa finally addressed the woman's questions.
"I have every record in the hospital in that office but without any light I can't look through them. Flashlights would be too dim. We'd need to start the generator in the basement," Lisa finished, "and you said a small child bit you? Did you see what they looked like? This looks like a dog bite...." her voice trailed off.
Lisa stood up, job finished, and watched the shadows around them. The lobby area had the most light because it pooled from the four window panes on the door and bathed the checkered floor in its white light. Though anything beyond that area was pitch black. Lisa had already tucked her turned on flashlight in a breast pocket so that she didn't have to hold it anymore. She waited for the decision that Samantha would give them. Going into the basement sounded like a bad idea but it had to be done if they wanted answers.

Sam still had small tears in her eyes as she examined the woman's hand and watched as the blood flowed from the fresh wound. Samantha then heard the woman say that she'll be alright and that a small child bit her. As Sam took a closer look, she noticed that the wound looked more like an animal bite.
The woman then went on to say that she's looking for some records and that it was important. "Well we are going to records room too so you're in luck" Sam said in a polite tone and let out a small smile. Sam then moved aside as Lisa came and bandaged up the woman's hand. Sam watched closely as Lisa's slender hands gently cleaned and dressed the wound. After a couple minutes, Lisa was all done, and samantha was finally starting to feel a little less guilty about abandoning the woman earlier.
Samantha then heard Lisa say that she has access to all the records but she needs light to read them and the flashlights were just too dim. Lisa then went on to say that they need to go down to the basement to turn on the generator. After a couple seconds of thinking, samantha decided that lisa was right.
"Alright then let's go down to the basement. Everybody stay close together.". Sam said using her commanding voice. "Lisa lead the way.". Samantha said as she raised her gun. "oh if you don't have anything to defend yourself with, make sure to stay extra close. There's some crazy shit going on in this place.". Sam said talking to cecilia as lisa was getting ready to lead them to the basement.

Cecilia nodded as she listened to Sam discuss that they were going down to the basement.
"...I have pepperspray... but I don't want to use it unless I have to... I mean... that child was probably scared enough as it was..." Her naivette refused to allow her to think the child was anything less than innocent.
She didn't like the idea of the others using weapons either... but decided she'd just have to keep an extra close eye out to keep any innocents from being attacked.
Cecilia tried to think about what her husband had taught her about blackouts. Typically they were caused by a short or an overload that tripped a breaker. However if they were just going to turn on the generator.
"Where's the stairwell?"

Leading the way down a dark corridor never seemed like the best position in a horror film setting but Lisa knew that she was the only one who could do it. She wasn't weak willed, or weak minded like most people; there were things that had to be done and she would do them. Crimson lips twisted into a half smile as she viewed her companions. There was something charismatic about both of them, as though they were the first real people that Lisa had seen in a long time. Real? What was she talking about?
"Okay," she nodded, turning so that her flashlight illuminated the way.
Her fingers found the stairwell at the end of the hall fairly fast, grabbing her pocket key and twisting it in the door. Lisa paused before opening it, turning down the dark hallway where her first confrontation had been. Checkered floor patterns buzzed through her brain, the garnet footsteps that led down them ended in a pool of blood where she could have sworn the dead nurse monster had laid just seconds ago. Lisa shivered, heart beat speeding, and she turned the knob successfully.
"Not far, I think two flights down..." she thought out loud, gripping in the darkness for the cold steel of the railing.
Lisa made sure that her companions were following her closely, her finger tips were brushing every surface she could find so that she didn't loose her way. All around her the darkness brushed at them, threatening the serenity of the small pocket light that Samantha had given her. Warmth that had been in her heart was slowly slipping away into the cold atmosphere around her. She rounded the last step with a final click and found her fingertips on the basement door.
"Okay, we can do this," she started and then turned the troupe, "are you guys ready?"

Samantha followed closely behind Lisa. As she walked, Sam started to think about her sister Lily. Is she really here? Sammy thought to herself as she continued to follow Lisa down the dark hallway.
The three finally reached the room where just moments ago Lisa had been attacked by that nurse monster. Sam eyes looked around the room, she saw the pool of blood that she left behind when sam stabbed it in the gut, but couldn't find the body. A chill went down the dark haired woman's spine. "Where did the body go?". Sam whispered to herself holding her gun even higher.
The three then reached a door that was labeled basement. As Samantha looked at the door she couldn't help feel as if all the darkness in the world was seeping out of it. Sam then heard Lisa ask if they were ready. Sam then let out a nervous smile. "Locked and loaded.". Sam said in a worried tone and then let out a small nervous sigh.

Cecilia frowned at the choice of words that Samantha used. It wasn't smart to go in anywhere guns blazing like Rambo... if you don't think you'll regret it... Cecilia was certain of this.
She nodded to Lisa to go ahead with the plan,, fetching her pepperspray from her purse.
...it was for public defense as well as self...
Cecilia brased herself for what ever was waiting behind the door, feeling as if the next few moments would be a turning point in her personal story...
Finding out what happened to Jeremy... would she finally be able to let him go?

Lisa's nimble fingers yanked open the door and their was a cold air permeating from the door in front of them. Her heart was skipping inside of her chest as she took one step into the room. The small tendrils of light that her flashlight emitted were being swallowed in the darkness in front of them. Lisa felt her stomach lurch at an unknown stench in the room. Maybe the basement had flooded again? She took another step forwards with her heels, searching for the red light that the panel emitted.
"Ugh," she cringed, wrinkling her nose at the moldy, smelly air.
More darkness, clutching at her clothes and hair as though trying to bring her down. Lisa felt her body shaking but knew better than to give into the fear. Fear made you weak, she couldn't be weak now. They needed her. From the other end of the room a small ruby glow emitted, coming from what she imagined was the panel. Determined, she made her way forwards without looking back at her companions. They would follow no doubt.
In a matter of minutes she had made her away over there, flashlight focused on the ground in front of her. Thump thump. Thump thump. Thump thump. Her heartbeat slowed as her fingers closed around the large metal cable handle to the power. She attempted to give the handle a move but for some reason it wouldn't budge. Lisa scowled and tried again. No luck.
"I think it's stuck..." she said between attempts, getting slightly annoyed.

Samantha followed closely behind Lisa. As soon as the dark haired woman entered the room, she felt cold air and couldn’t help but let out a small shiver. As they walked on further, Sam could smell something extremely awful. “What the hell is this smell?” Sam said as she covered her nose with her palm. Sam was fighting her instinct to gag as she stepped through the small illuminated path of their flashlights.
Sam continued to follow closely behind the nurse Lisa not wanting to get lost; especially in this place. After a few more minutes of walking, Sam could see a small red light illuminating a panel. That must be the emergency generator. Sam thought to herself wanting to just run and turn on the lights, but obediently followed behind Lisa.
Soon the three reached the panel. Sam watched as Lisa, tried to pull the switch. For a second, Sam started to feel more at ease. Sam worries soon came back when Lisa said that she thought it was stuck. “Do you want me to try?” Sam asked politely as she walked up and stood beside Lisa.
Once Lisa let go of the switch, Sam took her pale hands and gripped them around the handle. Sam let out a small grunt as she used all of her strength and tried to pull the switch. “Damn.” Sam said as she let out a small sigh, and let go of the switch.
Just then, Sam heard the clacking of heels. Sam quickly turned to face Lisa hoping that it was her that was moving. Sam started to get scared when she saw that Lisa had not been moving. Sam then looked over towards Cecilia, and let out a small gasp. Behind Cecilia, was one of the monsters that had attacked Lisa and Sam earlier. Samantha pointed her gun towards Celilia. “Move!” Sam said in her commanding tone as she got ready to pull the trigger. As soon as Cecilia moved, Sam pulled the trigger and sent a bullet flying straight through the nurse’s head killing it.
Sam then saw a large group of nurse’s heading towards them, the clacking of all their heels echoing throughout the entire area. “There’s too many of them. FALL BACK!” Sam yelled as the nurse’s inched their way closer, with their knives held high. Sam started running beside Lisa and Cecilia looking for a room they could barricade themselves in. After a few minutes of running, Sam finally saw a large storage room, and ran inside.
Once all three were inside, Sam managed to barricade the door, and was now aiming her gun towards the door. The nurse’s banged on the door for what seemed like an eternity. After a few minutes of banging, a loud siren started blaring. “What the hell is that?” Sam asked as she covered her ears. The room then became darker and looked as if the three were standing in the deepest pits of hell. “What the hell is going on!” Sam asked in a scared tone.

Cecilia looked at the world around her as it was melting.
Something wasn't right about this hospital... not at all...
She walked forward and put her hand on a melting wall and grabbed some of the stuff off of it. It withered into dust between her fingers and floated away as her foggy eyes watched.
"...why is this happening?" she asked quietly.
Cecilia looked over at the door.
"I think we need to turn the generator on. I don't know what's going on here, but I'm not leaving without finding out about Jeremy."
She looked at Lisa with a request for forgiveness in her eyes. "...I have to. It's the only reason I came here."
She walked over to Sam and grabbed her hand. "And you... stop going so fast. It's hard to keep up with you when you're running everywhere. I understand you're scared... but some demons have to be faced one on one." Her motherly voice never raised, it was as if she were explaining the moral of a bedtime story, her foggy eyes drifting over the girl's face.
She hadn't noticed the large amount of nurses behind her when she'd entered this room but now that the place had changed, she reached for the doorknob and pryed the door open a crack, her pepperspray out.
"...I don't see anyone out there. I think it's ok. Lisa," She looked at the Nurse behind her, "I think with a little force we could get the lever moving."
She noticed something behind Lisa and squinted. Reaching up behind her she pulled down an oil can.
"Or we could use this." She noticed other things on the shelves in the room and browsed through them.
After a few seconds she noticed at toolbox, a crowbar, a sledgehammer and a nail gun as well as some spare medical supplies. Gause and bandages, disinfectant and antibiotic oinment were the first things she noticed. "...looks like supplies for a burn victim..."
"...maybe we should take some of this stuff... you know... just in case..."

Within seconds things had turned from bad to horrible. Several things happen at the same time, most of which Lisa didn't even notice. Sam's fingers closed in on hers and together they tried to force the generator with no luck. Behind her she heard the soft sound of scraping limbs on the ground and felt her heart sink. With a great final push the generator turned on, bathing the room in a deep red light. Among the darkest corners of the room there stood an army of nurses, their bodies twisted and mangled as their hearts.
Lisa screamed.
Someone pulled her away from them, into a large room where she had forgotten how to speak. Lying crumpled on the ground, she heard the large whack of a door behind them and the cascade of barrages that hit the door. They continued to beat like hands on a drum, the promise of death became much clearer with each of the intervals. Lisa felt her heart in her throat, beating like someone had been choking her. Blonde hair covered her face as she knelt upon the ground. A piercing siren cut through her head like a migraine.
"No, not now," she whispered.
Around them the world seemed to be blackening as though it were burning, the walls peeled from their pristine white to an ugly rust-faded gray. The floor she had been sitting on was now a coppery red, the colored of dried blood. Lisa felt as though she were going to pass out as the world around continued to flash. And then, it stopped. She held her eyes shut tight, embracing the floor for fear of falling. Words that were said were lost to her. Lisa didn't dare open her eyes, she knew better.
